The plain-English terms for installing and using TackNote on your computers.
Keepers Code, LLC, doing business as TackNote ("we," "us," or "our") grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use TackNote (the "app") on the number of computers covered by the license you purchase: three (3) computers, Mac or Windows, for a standard license, or the number of seats (activations) specified by your volume (multi-seat) license. You may install and use the app only on computers that you (or, for a volume license, your organization) own or control, for your own or your organization’s internal use. Each computer counts as one seat, whether it is a Mac or a Windows PC; you may move a seat to another computer by deactivating it on the first.
TackNote is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the app, including all intellectual-property rights. This EULA gives you only the limited rights described here.
You may not:
The 7-day free trial is provided so you can evaluate TackNote. The terms of this EULA apply to you during the trial just as they do after you buy a license.
Your notes and data are yours. The app stores them locally on your computer and encrypted (see our Privacy Policy for details). We claim no ownership of, and no rights to, your content.
This license ends automatically if you breach any of its terms. On termination, you must stop using the app and remove it from your computers. Your local notes remain yours and stay on your device.
You can move your license between computers whenever you like. If all of its computers are in use, activating a new one asks which existing computer to disconnect and moves the license there for you. You never need the old computer to hand, so replacing, selling or wiping a machine does not strand your license.
We may also deactivate a license key, or the individual activations on it, if we have good reason to believe it has been published or shared beyond the number of computers it covers. We will email the address the license was issued to when we do, and if we have got it wrong, tell us and we will put it back. This is about keys posted publicly, not about you reinstalling, replacing a computer, or running the app on a machine you are setting up.
Whatever happens to a license, your notes are yours and they stay on your computer. We do not delete them, we cannot read them, and losing a license never puts your own writing out of reach.
TackNote is provided "AS IS" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the app or this EULA is limited to the amount you paid for TackNote. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
You agree to comply with all applicable export laws and regulations when using TackNote. This EULA is governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
This EULA, together with our Terms of Service, is the entire agreement between you and us regarding TackNote, and supersedes any prior understandings. Questions? Email us at support@tacknote.app.
This EULA is provided for transparency and is not legal advice; please review with your own counsel before relying on it.
Every note is sealed with AES-256 encryption the moment you write it — the key lives in your Mac’s Keychain, never on a server. Switch on iCloud sync and your notes are encrypted on your Mac before they travel through your own iCloud. Apple holds the keys to that sync unless you turn on Apple’s Advanced Data Protection, which makes it end-to-end encrypted and readable only on your devices. No accounts, no trackers, no servers we control. Not even we can read your notes.
